A Progress Update

23rd Aug., 2013

Hey! It's been a month and a half now since we first launched Kouio, and we thought an update on our progress was well overdue. It's been a crazy and fun ride so far, and you've given a us a ton of feedback that has really helped us to shape our initial direction. Here's a quick breakdown of what we've added since first launching:

  • Full text search for articles
  • Folders for feeds
  • Shortcut keys for navigation
  • Resizable reading panes
  • Feed refresh and "mark all read" toolbar

But that's only the half of it. Visible improvements aside, we've been crazily re-working our backend systems to keep Kouio running super fast, while its archive of articles has grown into the tens and tens of millions.

We've still got more in the works during our beta period, during which time kouio will remain free of charge. Here's a quick list of what's up next:

  • Sharing and export to services like Twitter, Evernote, Readability (and more!)
  • Real-time feed updates
  • Drag/drop feed and folder sorting
  • Browser extensions
  • Mobile support

Most of these features are actually already working in our test environment, and we're just fine-tuning them to make sure they're perfect before we roll them out, so stay tuned and follow Kouio on Twitter for updates.

In the mean time, we can never get enough feedback, so if you have any suggestions and would like to help shape Kouio, please let us know!
